This is the combo you need for measuring mycotoxins (mold poisons) and potential mold colonization in your body.

Both the MycoTox and OAT are a urine test and can be done at home. It's a single sample needed and it even comes with return shipping. It doesn't get easier than this.

If you have a child in diapers we can even send a paediatric urine collection bag so that we can see what's happening in your babies body.

Matt normally uses Vibrant America's Mycotoxin test as it checks for 29 mycotoxins as opposed to 11 with this test, but at this price point you are able to still get good testing done, plus the OAT. Mosaic will soon be increasing the mycotoxins it checks for.

If you are wondering if you have mold toxicity, this combo, along with the ERMI (home mold test) you can get great data to see what's going on. You can determine of mold and mycotoxins may be affecting your health.

MycoTox Test

Mycotoxins, produced by certain mold species, are some of the most prevalent toxins and can come from many sources including buildings, vehicles, and food. These compounds have been recognized as a growing global health concern due to their acute and chronic adverse health impacts. Mycotoxin exposure can be difficult to diagnose without proper testing due to vague and often varied symptoms.

The MycoTOX Profile is Mosaic Diagnostics’ most comprehensive assessment of mycotoxins. Our state-of-the art urine-based assay accurately assesses levels of 11 different mycotoxins, including Aflatoxin M1, Ochratoxin A, Zearalenone, and Trichothecenes. The MycoTOX Profile has been designed to support clinicians uncover mycotoxin exposure – and guide a therapeutic strategy for prevention and treatment.

Why Test for Mycotoxins?

Mycotoxins cause adverse health effects that may be acute and chronic in nature that can manifest in various and ambiguous symptoms, the degree of impact can vary depending on the age, sex, genetics, and underlying health status of the exposed individual, as well as the duration and dose magnitude of the offending substance and their synergistic effects with other mycotoxins. Providers assessing symptomatic patients with known mold exposure or with an environmental history concerning mold exposure, will also need to consider the concomitant presence of mycotoxins and their potential negative health impacts as proper testing is essential for accurate treatment. The MycoTOX profile is specifically designed to help healthcare practitioners identify mycotoxin exposure and guide a targeted prevention and treatment plan.

How Can Someone Be Exposed to Mycotoxins?

Common routes of exposure include inhalation, dermal contact, and ingestion via common contaminated food sources (corn, cereals, ground and tree nuts, spices, dried fruits, apples, coffee, meat, milk, and eggs). Mold contamination can also affect nearly all indoor materials, including drywall, paint, wallpaper, carpeting, and more, posing various routes of exposure. When excessive moisture is present in high humidity geographic areas or water-damaged buildings. The growth of these biological agents in damp environments leads to the production of spores, cells, fragments, and volatile organic compounds which have been linked to a wide range of health hazards.

How Does the MycoTOX Profile Measure Mycotoxins?

The MycoTOX profile utilizes state of the art liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) technology to ensure high specificity (or fewer false positive results) and capture free (unconjugated) mycotoxin presence even at low levels, this is crucial as mycotoxins, even at low levels of exposure, can cause serious health problems. Our test is so sensitive that we can detect amounts of many compounds in parts per trillion (ppt). To account for variations in fluid intake, we utilize creatinine correction to ensure accurate and reliable results. By utilizing LC-MS/MS technology, we can precisely identify all our analytes, reducing the risk of false positives. With the MycoTOX Profile, you can trust that you are receiving the most accurate and reliable results possible.

Organic Acid Test (OAT)

Organic acids are products of the body’s metabolic pathways. Evaluation of these downstream metabolites from various metabolic pathways provides insight into important areas related to gut health, mitochondrial dysfunction, neurotransmitter status, indicators of detoxification and macronutrient breakdown and nutritional status. This makes organic acid testing a valuable tool to assess the functional need for essential nutrients, diet modification, antioxidant protection, detoxification, and other therapies.

The Organic Acids Test (OAT) provides a comprehensive nutritional and metabolic snapshot of an individual’s overall health. The OAT measures 76 organic acids from one easy to collect urine sample.

Why Run an Organic Acids Test (OAT)?

The Organic Acids Test (OAT) is a simple and efficient way to assess a number of metabolic pathways providing insight into imbalances and nutrient needs. The OAT can provide insight into a wide range of conditions, making it valuable for individuals who are experiencing complex chronic conditions.

The OAT test report is organized into clinically useful categories including:

  • Intestinal Microbial Overgrowth markers evaluate for candida activity, clostridia bacteria toxins, potential mold exposure, and imbalance in the gut microflora.
  • Oxalate Metabolites provide insight into oxalate levels being generated by organisms within the system or via dietary contributions.
  • Glycolytic Cycle Metabolites and Mitochondrial Markers (Krebs Cycle and Amino Acid Metabolites) evaluate for metabolic efficiency (e.g., use of glucose and amino acids for energy generation) and mitochondrial dysfunction.
  • Neurotransmitter Metabolites evaluate for phenylalanine, tyrosine and tryptophan metabolism which are linked to neurotransmitter status and quinolinic acid production.
  • Pyrimidine Metabolites & Ketone and Fatty Acid Oxidation markers give insight into folate status and cellular turnover, as well as mitochondrial utilization of fatty acids for energy production.
  • Nutritional Markers provide insight into the sufficiency of essential vitamins, antioxidants, and metabolic pathway co-factors.
  • Indicators of Detoxification assess for the presence of oxidative stress via markers of glutathione sufficiency and methylation versus transsulfuration function.
  • Amino Acid Metabolites may suggest functional nutrient need or be reflective of genetic metabolic dysfunction if a consistently, persistently elevated level of a particular analyte is noted.
  • The Mineral Metabolism marker provides insight into dietary intake of phosphate and can give insights into Vitamin D levels.
